The Crossville Chronicle is seeking a full-time reporter to join its award-winning team.
The ideal candidate is one with a passion for writing who can report on the issues of our growing area with accuracy and fairness and tell the stories of our people and community.
Applicants should be self-motivators who can develop sources, dig for stories of importance to readers, handle hard news and tell a compelling story. The reporter will need to be organized and able to juggle multiple assignments and competing priorities with a sense of urgency and on deadline.
Some weekend and evening work will be involved. Adobe Creative Cloud experience, particularly with InDesign, is helpful but not required.
Essential skills and requirements
Sharp eye for details.
Develop effective personal relationships with sources.
Comfortable working with people of all ages, from all walks of life.
Writing with urgency and adhering to the AP Stylebook.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work in a team atmosphere and collaborate with others on stories.
Valid Tennessee driver’s license, reliable transportation and minimum liability insurance required by state law.
Desired skills and experience
Newspaper design, particularly with the use of InDesign.
Photography skills and working with Adobe Photoshop.
Work with social media and content management systems.
Video experience is a plus but not required.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required. Recent journalism graduates are encouraged to apply.
