Star Tribune is looking for an experienced, versatile, self-starting business reporter to cover consumer trends in Minnesota. This beat covers a range of topics important to consumers’ pocketbooks, including supermarkets, restaurants, retailers and personal finance. We want to hire someone who is nimble enough to cover early breaking business news and experienced enough to develop a beat with a wide lens on how Minnesotan’s shop, eat and live and how changes in household buying habits affect lifestyles, businesses, and the broader economy. Top candidates will be skilled reporters with a track record of coverage that represents and speaks to the breadth of Minnesota’s diversity. You must have strong news judgment, demonstrate the ability to write with accuracy and balance, and be comfortable working with data and financial statements. You also must have a strong understanding of news platforms, both online and print, and their audiences. The ability to work collegially with others in our department and across the newsroom is key.
