Description
The role
As our value grows, so does our need for extraordinary people. Technical writers at Checkout.com help build the next generation of financial products and online payment solutions through clear, consistent, and high-quality technical documentation. We use technical documentation to constantly advocate for the success of our users.
You’ll join a team of technical writers working on a rich variety of projects, primarily the ownership of Checkout.com Documentation and our API reference. You’ll collaborate closely with other writers, designers, and team members of varying seniority at the intersection of diverse functions including Design, Product, User Research, and Engineering!
The team
We are more than 40 people across Product Design, UX Research, Content Design, and Design Operations.
We operate in a hybrid working model, with three days in the office per week.
How you’ll make an impact
You’re an experienced technical writer working on technical product documentation and API references or SDKs, adhering to a consistent style and content patterns
You’ll be a confident and empathetic partner with experience in managing stakeholders and delivering content as part of an agile team.
You’ll have a keen interest in technology and the role that well-written content plays in facilitating successful product integrations.
You’ll have a strong understanding of Git and the Docs-as-Code approach, and experience working with APIs.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for
You have experience producing clear, human-centered documentation in American English
You are experienced in using and documenting APIs and complex software
You have hands-on experience with different technologies in the discipline (Docs-as-code, CMS, Git, Jira)
Experience in defining technical documentation strategies across small to medium sized projects
Knowledge of the OpenAPI (OAS) specification would be a nice to have
You put users at the heart of your work and understand the value of technical documentation.
You focus on the user journey, championing their success through content.
You navigate uncertainty with grace, openness, and a willingness to learn
You’re confident editing content created by other technical writers and fellow employees
You love learning – you’re not the finished package, but you have ideas on how to get there
