POSITION SUMMARY:
Interpret mechanical system and electrical engineering drawings including their accompanying substantiation reports so that supplemental instructions for continued airworthiness including but not limited to aircraft maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs and crew operating manuals can be written in support of receiving a supplemental type certificate for a modified aircraft.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Proficient ability to read and understand engineering drawings is imperative.
Review all systems and technical drawings to create procedural manuals for each component, system, interior configuration, etc., which are customized specifically for each aircraft.
Translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical personnel.
Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards.
Develop and update corporate documentation and forms as tasked by the Group Lead.
Coordinate with the Production to access the aircraft to validate the written procedural steps before aircraft close-up.
Guide and task an Illustrator to select and/or develop photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material for incorporation in tech manuals.
Take digital photographs for reference and incorporate them into projects as required.
Quality check the hard copy and electronic files of the documents to ensure all requirements are met before submitting documents to external in-process review and final delivery.
Provide estimated scope of work for cost preparation.
Prepare and update Project Schedules as required.
Maintain configuration control of electronic files as well as hard copy historical files.
Advise and assist Technical Writers as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:
BS Degree in Industrial Technologies or Aeronautics preferred; and equivalent Technical Writing work experience.
6+ years’ experience as an aviation Technical Writer.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Working knowledge of Adobe FrameMaker
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent procedural technical writing skills with thorough knowledge of English grammar and punctuation.
Ability to assimilate technical concepts quickly and to produce accurate procedural instructions.
Must have excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently yet seek guidance when necessary.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and adjust to changing priorities.

The office building where this position works is a typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues near the workstation. The employee in this position will experience occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements when called upon to locate personnel working inside or outside of a Hangar.
