Technology & Machinery Editor

Farm Journal is excited to elevate our technology and machinery coverage for America’s farmers, ranchers and growers. The ambitious editor will produce meaningful and memorable content for the Farm Journal family of magazines, digital platforms, broadcast and events.

Responsibilities
These duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Exhibit excellent news judgement and generate original content on technology and machinery that engages farmers, ranchers and growers through Farm Journal’s print, digital and broadcast brands
Establish relationships with industry leaders to stay a step ahead of evolving innovations and keep a pulse on farmers’ need for technology and machinery to keep their operations profitable and sustainable
Collaborate with the Farm Journal Test Plot program and agronomists
Work with brand leaders on all aspects of story ideation and reporting
Prioritize projects and balance multiple deadlines while effectively updating the team
Travel for on-site interviews, events and shows

Required Qualifications:

Broad knowledge of technology and machinery and how on-farm use and advancements impact row crop and livestock production, profitability and sustainability
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
At least two years of writing experience and commitment to original reporting
Enthusiasm for service journalism and data-driven content
Aptitude to understand and follow multiple writing formats that engage audiences across Farm Journal’s broad portfolio
Proven aptitude for growth and curiosity to learn
Ability to work calmly under deadline
Photography skills
