Economy Reporter

New Posted 14 February 2022 | Albuquerque, New Mexico | The Albuquerque Journal

The independent, family-owned Albuquerque Journal is seeking a self-starting reporter to cover the New Mexico economy. This reporter will produce a mix of daily and enterprise stories based on reporting involving a variety of industries — residential real estate, health care and cannabis, to name a few — to try to get at the heart of what major economic forces and trends look like in the lives of average New Mexicans and the organizations that employ them. Occasional general assignment business stories should be expected. Occasional travel for assignments may also be required. Applicants should have at least 3 years of reporting experience, and a demonstrated ability to report and write both in-depth trend pieces and quick-turn daily stories. Business reporting experience is preferred. Spanish language ability would be a major advantage. This position is based in Albuquerque, which offers easy access to the outdoors, a relatively affordable cost of living — and a world-class food culture. Reporters work in the newsroom, where collaboration is a daily constant, but also have some flexibility to work remotely.
