The Baltimore Banner is hiring an Arts & Culture Editor to lead a team in producing coverage of the Baltimore area’s creative communities and matters that affect them. The editor will oversee content about visual art, performing arts, music, food, and culture. This position will work closely with our Arts & Culture writers, columnists, freelance writers, and digital producers to generate high-value content that resonates with our subscribers and potential subscribers. Though breaking news will, at times, be the focus of this team, the Arts & Culture editor should have a keen sense for what’s moving the needle in the city’s creative communities and be able to guide and assign work that focuses on contextualizing what’s happening with sensitivity and imagination. We encourage candidates to present a robust and forward-thinking vision for arts, food, and music commentary — including thoughtful profiles, reported stories, monthly roundups, and multimedia approaches to storytelling. The ideal candidate will work with reporters to ensure coverage is diverse and not only focuses on the well-known, large arts institutions.
