The Boston Globe is hiring an audience editor for its Rhode Island bureau, someone with a wealth of energy, ideas, and digital savvy to join a growing team of journalists covering the Ocean State. The editor will be responsible for managing the bureau’s publishing across all digital platforms. This will include curating a lively and fresh presence online, crafting a distinctive voice on social media, and distributing news through newsletters, apps, and other channels. The editor will also put the audience at the focus of everything we do, using analytics to decipher reader patterns and devising strategies to reach new readers and engage existing ones. Experience working for a subscription website is a plus, but not necessary. Furthermore, the editor should be a deft headline writer capable of capturing readers’ interest in just a few words. They should also be a skilled writer and editor, capable of handling breaking news coverage, feature stories, and other aspects of our coverage.
