The Bozeman Daily Chronicle is seeking an assistant editor to help run our newsroom and produce great journalism for southwest Montana. We are a digital-focused newsroom with a print newspaper that comes out six days a week. This position will work with the managing editor to run the newsroom and oversee day-to-day local news coverage. This person will help shape daily coverage and long-term enterprise and investigative work, and they'll also report and write stories of their own on occasion. This position also plays a key role in the Chronicle's digital strategy by leading the newsroom's social media accounts and developing strategies for increasing audience. The successful candidate will have strong social media skills, an understanding of SEO and a familiarity with analytics. Digital presentation skills and multi-media experience are a plus. Bozeman is in the beautiful Gallatin Valley in southwest Montana. It's close to world class skiing, hunting and fishing, and Yellowstone National Park is less than two hours away. Qualifications: Bachelor or other 4-year degree in journalism or a related field. At least three years experience working in a daily newsroom. Some editing experience preferred, but strong reporters looking to jump into a management role will be considered.
