The Bozeman Daily Chronicle is looking to fill its business reporter role. The beat is an essential one for the Chronicle, as Bozeman has grown by leaps and bounds over the last several years. The city is Montana's hub for tech, nonprofit and outdoors industries. The ideal candidate for this position is motivated, enthusiastic about local news and has experience developing a beat and enterprise stories. We're looking for someone with a good news sense, a willingness to dig into a topic and the creativity to spot and write about the myriad ways that business and money intersect with life in the rural West.
You would join a fun newsroom full of talented, award-winning journalists. The Chronicle publishes in print five days a week and has a 24/7 online presence covering Bozeman specifically and southwest Montana broadly. The area is one of the fastest growing in the country and offers world-class recreation opportunities. Yellowstone National Park is less than two hours away. Summer offers spectacular hiking, access to multiple renowned trout streams and a growing network of bike trails. In winter, Bridger Bowl offers technical steeps 16 miles north of town, while Big Sky Resort offers big mountain riding an hour to the south. Candidates should have a four-year degree in journalism or a related field. Some newsroom experience is preferred but recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
