The Bulletin, Central Oregon's paper of record, is seeking an experienced reporter to cover the local education beat, which includes a growing four-year university (Oregon State University-Cascades), as well as a community college and the state's sixth largest public school district. This beat is a reporter's dream. From education innovation to data deep dives to real stories from the classroom, the reporting opportunities are rich and broad. The ideal candidate will be aggressive, adept at cultivating sources and skilled at talking with students and parents, working with education officials and crunching budget numbers and test data. This reporter needs to be self-directed and able to juggle daily stories and enterprise work. Digital publication skills and stellar writing chops a must. Priority given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and are social media savvy for news and audience engagement. Daily media reporting experience, a bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field, or a combination of experience and education is required.
