We are looking for an impact driven, internationally minded Communications Manager to join our Global Marketing team at our London headquarters.

This role is focused on the delivery of our global communications strategy and the day to day running of our press office, from managing incoming requests from journalists to proactively pitching stories. A key focus of the role will be developing relationships with key UK, global and regional journalists, working closely with our regional marketing team members to help globalise our media presence in leading business and trade media.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable public relations experience in a B2B setting or environmental sector, with exceptional writing skills and contacts with business, climate and/or sustainability focused journalists. The candidate will also have project management experience and be able to work with a diverse group of stakeholders across business units and regions. A key requirement is having an interest and can-do spirit in developing international communications and press relations in addition to the U.K. Experience working in an international setting with regional teams is beneficial.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The post holder will have responsibility on a range of public relations and communications projects across the group including:

Design and deliver public relations programmes that helps demonstrate the Carbon Trust’s unmatched technical expertise in addressing the climate crisis.
Develop relations with key journalists to keep abreast of the environmental topics of interest.
Develop press releases, thought leadership insights, op-eds and commentary in collaboration with Carbon Trust business experts, translating technical content into easy to understand language accessible to a broad business audience.
Work with regional marketing team members to develop and proactively pitch stories to key regional or local market journalists.
Work in collaboration with our Social and Multi-Media Executive to amplify communications through our LinkedIn channel, and our Event Manager to identify opportunities for Carbon Trust speaking engagements at media led events/forums.
Work with our client partner team, and client PR contacts as needed, to develop and pitch client related press releases.
Track and report on press coverage results (utilising Meltwater platform) to inform and optimise our communications strategy and approach.

Key skills we are looking for:

Experienced and fully competent in own area, working independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent writing skills and experience in translating technical and/or complex topics into accessible and newsworthy content.
Experience in international communications and proactively developing a network of journalist/media outlet contacts.
Specialist knowledge in more than one area of public relations, including media partnerships.
Strong collaborator who shares expertise, learnings and recommendations with team members, and is open to feedback, thoughts and new approaches to optimise work.
Ability to manage deadlines, prioritising and simplifying work where needed to avoid over complication.
Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality vs quantity.
Proactively keeps line manager informed of key requests/ projects, forecasting potential issues to collaboratively develop solutions in advance.
Promotes teamwork and works to establish consensus among team members.
Budget management skills

Qualifications and experience:

Significant demonstrable public relations experience in a b2b or environmental sector
Excellent level of written English (additional language skills are of benefit)
Experience in translating complex topics into easy to understand language
Experience of direct delivery of significant public relations programmes
Excellent project management skills
Experience of working on multiple concurrent projects
Experience of working with senior managers and diverse stakeholders
Experience in using online media monitoring tools such as Meltwater
Experience of managing supplier and contractor support

Salary & Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary upwards of £50,000 pa and a performance based bonus. Our hours are 37.5 per week with 28 days paid holiday plus bank holidays and a generous pension scheme.
