Job Description
The Politics Reporter, based in Washington, D.C., will break news on Congress and Congressional elections. The reporter is expected to produce enterprise and fast-moving stories on the major showdowns inside the Senate and the House of Representatives, on Congressional power players, and on pivotal Congressional elections. This reporter will be an integral part of The Beast's coverage of Washington, working with our journalists covering the White House, money in politics, presidential candidates, and more.
The ideal candidate will have a high news metabolism, the ability to break news and come up with fresh angles on the big stories of the day, and enjoy collaboration with colleagues. The reporter must also have demonstrated skills to write quick pieces and deeply reported articles that weave interviews, profile material, anecdotes, and exclusive details into compelling narratives. Travel may be required on some stories.
