The Denver Post is seeking a Features Intern to work on the Features Desk/The Know over the summer of 2024. We are a newspaper seeking to serve a broad audience and that is only possible when we embrace diversity, both in our news decisions and our staffing. We aim to tell stories from the diverse range of voices that make up this community and do that, in part, by actively recruiting and hiring people from all backgrounds. The No. 1 newspaper in the Rocky Mountain region, The Denver Post is helping shape the next generation of journalists by offering 10-week paid internships for the summer of 2024. In addition to this position, we are seeking news and features reporting interns. This is a paid internship, but interns will be responsible for their own travel, housing and transportation.
What You Will Do
Report stories (sometimes breaking) for online and print, often with a more conversational tone than traditional hard news stories
Source development and relationship building
Pitching story ideas in the realm of Colorado arts, music, nightlife, dining and the outdoors
Handle baseline web production on stories
What You Will Bring
Applicants should have completed junior year of college before summer 2024
A demonstrated interest in print and online journalism
Well-versed in basic news writing and AP style
A reliable car is required
Previous internship at a daily paper is required
