Editorial Freelancer

We are looking for an experienced content writer to support The Drum Network in the creation of written content across a range of channels and multimedia formats.

What will you do?

Content management for The Drum Network section of thedrum.com, The Drum Network Speaks.
SEO optimisation for memberships content (The Drum Network, Open Mic, The Drum Recommends)
Monitoring memberships submissions email inbox, handling queries from members, and chasing up pitches.
Copy editing submissions.
Uploading submissions to our CMS and scheduling for publication.
Administration and reporting of editorial member utilisations and updating KPI trackers for member content, utilisation and satisfaction
Co-ordination of promotional content for members - including speaker cards, sharing tags for @thedrum and other contributors - encouraging members to share their pieces effectively
Subediting pieces – for both The Drum Network Speaks and The Drum’s wider editorial ecosystem. Includes proofreading, basic fact checking and ensuring all pieces conform to house style.
Working with The Drum Network Editor on editorial pieces about the marketing industry.
Performing interviews and organizing panel sessions and roundtables (virtual and in-person).
Researching and finding interesting stories from the Network members.
Writing up articles for The Drum.
Writing and editing additional comms, including newsletters and events/marketing copy.

Who are we looking for?

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail
Commercially minded, creative thinker who can translate that well into the written word
Confidence in articulating content ideas to clients and internal stakeholders
Self-starter with a can-do attitude and proactive problem solver and collaborator
Sound knowledge of key trends and developments across the media and marketing industry
Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, managing to deadlines
