Salary Range:
$48,000.00 To 58,000.00 Annually
Job Summary:
The General Assignment Reporter will be responsible for covering public safety issues, such as policies relating to crime and trends in policing. In addition, this reporter will cover local governments, such as city council and county commissions, as well as school boards. This reporter will also handle breaking news and general assignments, including business coverage and other issues, as assigned.
This position is physically based in Denver. Candidates from out of state must be willing to relocate to metro Denver.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Write daily and enterprise stories about public safety, local governments and other issues, as assigned
Pursue breaking news stories
Pursue court stories, as assigned
Convey news and tell stories using multiple tools, including social media, photos and video
Develop a wide range of sources in any given beat
Collaborate and maintain strong working relationships with Denver Gazette staff, as well with Colorado Politics and Colorado Springs Gazette
Coordinate with colleagues on content, visual, digital and audience operations to present and promote stories
Ensure that journalism standards are followed, notably accuracy and objectivity
Consistently meet deadlines
Serve as liaison for customers, sources and other community members

Minimum Education & Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or mass communications.
