Editorial Writer

The Houston Chronicle is looking for an editorial writer to join its award-winning Opinion staff as a member of the editorial board. We seek a proven journalist with a history of dogged reporting and clear and incisive writing who can help us hold public officials accountable even as we foster an inclusive, wide-ranging conversation throughout the city and state about issues of top concern to our readers.

Houston is America’s fourth-largest and most diverse city, and the largest in Texas, where issues as diverse as immigration, criminal justice reform, equity and infrastructure, climate change and the future of energy collide regularly.

Our board, which was named a 2017 Pulitzer Prize finalist and is led by Pulitzer Prize-winner Lisa Falkenberg, is committed to changing for the better the lives of our readers, one step at a time. We insist on a fact-driven approach to opinion-writing and seek to win over converts to our points of view rather to preach to the choir.
