US Culture Reporter

The Independent is recruiting a US Culture Reporter to play a central role in driving our coverage. You will be reporting on all aspects of the entertainment industries: from the Emmys to the latest Netflix hit series; from Marvel’s newest blockbuster to the critically acclaimed indie film everyone’s talking about; and from Taylor Swift's forthcoming album to the Super Bowl half-time show. The successful candidate will be a genuine all-rounder with their finger on the pulse, with an ability to generate eye-catching original ideas. You must be a confident and experienced news writer with a firm grasp of good grammar and sound legal knowledge, who thrives under the pressure of working in a fast-paced news environment.

Skills and Experience

1 - 3 Years’ experience in a similar role for an arts publication, newspaper or news website
A proven track record of culture writing, including breaking news
Strong news sense and ability to present stories in an original, engaging manner
A solid understanding of social media and SEO
An understanding of the Independent brand and audience

Salary: $50,000-$65,000
