The Information is opening applications for our 2024 Editorial Fellowship. This is a six-month paid program for journalists early in their career to develop their business reporting skills by joining a team of award-winning journalists and editors passionate about covering the tech industry and how it is changing society. The fellowship starts in January 2024. The role has the opportunity to convert to a full-time job at the end of the fellowship.
During this full-time program, reporters will hone their skills at source development, beat reporting, financial analysis, journalism ethics and writing. Reporters typically publish a range of articles for our website and email subscribers, from earnings briefs to features, interviews and newsletters. We are a collegial newsroom with a flat structure, which means fellowship reporters have the opportunity to collaborate with highly experienced reporters and editors and write about a variety of companies and topics—from social media to venture investing to e-commerce and advertising.
We are looking for early-stage reporters who are interested in business and tech journalism and have some experience in reporting, including at college newspapers or other outlets. The reporters will work out of our bureaus in New York or San Francisco. Interested applicants who plan to relocate can apply for a relocation stipend. We strongly encourage people from traditionally underrepresented communities to apply, particularly people of color. We are a newsroom that values diversity and building an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and ages.
Please submit a resume and cover letter that explains your interest in The Information, journalism experience including academic work, your interest in business or tech reporting, and links or attachments with clips.
Deadline for applying is October 1. A decision will be announced by November 15.
