The Journal Record, an award-winning business-to-business publication and the most definitive source of business and legislative news in Oklahoma, is looking for a highly organized writer/editor to join our team in Oklahoma City. This key role is responsible for a variety of projects and special sections and requires a news professional with five-plus years of experience. Strong copy-editing, project and time management, writing and communication skills are a must. Familiarity with desktop publishing programs, including Adobe InDesign and InCopy, and general proficiency with basic office computer functions are preferred. The successful candidate will report to the editor but will also be required to collaborate frequently with the design team, sales representatives and others within the company. The candidate must understand the clients' needs for content, deadlines and feedback. The candidate must be able to work largely on her or his own to create story budgets, publication timelines and communication channels with colleagues, freelancers and clients while maintaining deadlines. Flexibility in dealing with inevitable changes, problems and unforeseen circumstances will be crucial to doing this job well.
