The New York Times

Staff Editor / Writer, Opinion Politics
Times Opinion is looking for an ambitious, hard-working editor to work with our politics editor to help shape coverage. The Staff Editor will commission and edit Op-Eds as well as write occasionally themselves, gifted at presenting well-reasoned arguments and insightful observations to help shape debate on important public issues.

This editor will work with a talented team of editors and writers to create op-eds that are wide-ranging, smart and thorough, that wants to interrogate ideas, political platforms and accepted dogma.

We’re looking for a journalist that combines a strong point of view with intellectual curiosity, who is eager to persuade rather than simply provoke whether writing or editing. Impeccable editorial judgment, sharp news instincts and exacting standards for excellence are a must.

This editor must be collaborative, willing to work closely with other editors, writers and columnists across the Opinion department and solicit the most interesting perspectives and arguments from across the political spectrum.
