The New York Times Licensing Group, the division that handles the distribution of New York Times journalism to publishers and content providers around the world, seeks an assistant managing editor to oversee its syndication editorial team. The editorial team is responsible for the global distribution of content from The New York Times and other publications (such as The Economist, Der Spiegel, Harvard Business Review and others). Syndicate team editors curate selections of articles that make up various products and services. They edit, repackage or abridge a wide range of columns, news stories and in-depth features to meet the needs of international clients. In addition, the team contributes to the creation, editing and distribution of bespoke publications and special series featuring essays by international contributors. The assistant managing editor’s main responsibility will be to supervise a team of editors and ensure that deadlines are met and that New York Times standards are always adhered to. The assistant managing editor will also be responsible for hiring, training and mentoring the syndicate team’s editorial assistants and associate editors. In addition, the assistant managing editor will be responsible for a variety of tasks, both managerial and editorial (details below), and reports to the Deputy Editorial Director of The New York Times Licensing Group. The assistant managing editor will also assist with tracking and evaluating costs of translation services for the Licensing Group.
