The New York Times

Title
Editor, The Argument
Details
The New York Times Audio Team is hiring an editor to play a key role in defining the editorial approach and direction of The Argument. This person will edit episodes and define new series and formats in conjunction with the host and producers. They’ll also collaborate with the team to seek out new voices, identify under covered angles, and help expose our listeners to opinions they were previously unfamiliar with. We’re looking for someone with experience editing news, interviews and/or conversational debates in audio. The right candidate will be a hands-on editor who can develop producers and shape conversations, working in tape as needed. Patience, persistence and impeccable news judgment are essential. This person should love the premise of our show: that arguments and disagreements are not only beneficial, but vital to our democracy. We believe longform conversational debates are essential for understanding each other and making progress in society. You should be welcoming of differences in opinion, used to working iteratively and dedicated to elevating a diversity of voices.
