The New York Times

Editorial Assistant
We have an opening for an editorial assistant for the New York Times Editorial Board which is made up of opinion journalists who rely on research, debate and individual expertise to reach a shared view of important issues. It is separate from and does not speak for the newsroom or The Times as a whole. This job, which is based in NYC, is a great gig for someone who is organized, digitally savvy, is broad minded and has broad-ranging news interests, from national to international affairs, criminal justice to science, civil and reproductive rights. You must have a sharp eye for detail; a strong sense of fresh arguments and good writing; superb research skills; a devotion to the highest standards of accuracy, precision and verification; ability to dive into unfamiliar material on deadline; discretion in handling sensitive editorial material; familiarity with various social media platforms; and a strong interest in opinion journalism. Collegiality, grace under pressure and diplomacy are essential.
