The New York Times is looking for a creative multimedia editor to specialize in motion graphics and animation primarily for Visual Investigations. The ideal candidate will be a visual thinker with years of experience animating and editing digital video. This editor is responsible for creating and applying motion to scripted video sequences and assets like maps, data and 3-D models. He or she should also suggest visual assets (maps, charts, diagrams) and visual approaches (animating data or cartography) that add journalistic value. The goal is for this editor to come up with new and interesting ways to explain and illustrate stories for our mobile, desktop and social audiences. There will also be some regular video editing.
