The New York Times is hiring a temporary Senior Video Journalist (expected to be for six months) to take the lead on producing off-platform content for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and more. He/she will work independently, exercise sound journalistic judgment and help set the daily editorial agenda for the team. The person in this role requires versatility, and will work on daily news and features, as well as bigger enterprise and investigative projects, to bring our on-platform journalism to off-platform audiences, who will engage deeply with our work. Coordinating with journalists on our visual teams is essential and understanding our editorial priorities is crucial. In addition, part of the role will be to experiment with formats, maintain a focus on speed for news, build a regular publishing cadence, and optimize our workflows. We’re looking for an excellent script writer with good audience instincts and a sense for the off-platform conversation.
