The Morning newsletter is seeking an editor for its expanding weekend offerings, bringing essential news and features coverage to one of the largest audiences at The Times. The editor will work with David Leonhardt to design and oversee both a Saturday newsletter and a relaunched Sunday newsletter that goes to the audience that already receives The Morning on weekdays. These products will immediately become among the largest Times platforms and the largest platforms in U.S. journalism. The position requires an unusual degree of news judgement and versatility, with knowledge across multiple beats, ideally including politics, international news, business and beyond. Comfort with arts and culture coverage is a must. At least one of the weekend newsletters are expected to emphasize features. We are looking for someone with an ability to lead other journalists and someone with a collaborative spirit. We are looking for an editor with a writerly touch, who can ensure that the newsletters speak in a conversational voice while also conveying the authority of The Times. This editor will work closely with The Morning’s current team, as well as with a writer who will be hired to focus on the weekend newsletters. The editor will also work with journalists from across the newsroom, to ensure we are highlighting the best Times journalism.
