The New York Times

Culture Reporter
The Culture Desk is looking for a reporter to cover classical music, dance and the world of high culture in New York City and beyond.

In normal times, this is a fascinating beat, roaming from the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall to New York City Ballet and much further afield. In pandemic times, it’s fascinating and more essential than ever — the intersection between art and money, a major part of many culture stories, will be significantly complicated by the economic crisis in the arts. It offers the chance to cover the powers behind a billion-dollar industry, but also to roam widely to capture the insights of artists, composers, musicians and how their work reflects and comments on our world.

As with our other beat jobs, you will find yourself balancing breaking news events with profiles, longer features and enterprise reporting.
