Economics Reporter

New Posted 17 November 2022 | Washington, DC | The New York Times

The New York Times is looking for a reporter to analyze economic trends and explain them to readers in a down-to-earth yet sophisticated way. The goal is to examine economics through the lens of policy and policy through the lens of economics. In other words, it's all about context. Candidates for this job should have economic and data expertise, and familiarity with how Washington works. Experience covering the federal government is a big plus, as is knowing how to present information in a visual way. For this position, you have to be a really good writer with the ability to stand above the material and make sense of complex material for a general -- but super smart -- audience. If your writing isn't a lot better than this job posting, maybe pass this one by. A minimum of five years' experience is required for this job, which can be based in either New York or Washington, D.C.
