The New York Times Opinion section is seeking an editorial assistant focused on project management duties. The job is ever-changing, but the primary duties involve research, fact-checking and collaborating across teams on ambitious enterprise projects. Duties will depend on the daily needs of the department and may also include administrative tasks. This is a yearlong, temporary position based at our New York headquarters. It will report to the Special Projects Editor for Opinion. The ideal candidate will be open to diverse points of view; have a sharp eye for detail; a strong sense of fresh arguments and good writing; superb research skills; a devotion to the highest standards of accuracy, precision and verification; the ability to meet tight deadlines; discretion in handling sensitive editorial material; and a strong interest in opinion journalism. Collegiality and diplomacy are essential.
