Fellowship -- Design-Opinion

New Posted 19 October 2022 | New York, NY | The New York Times

Join the 2023 New York Times Fellowship class as a fellow on the Opinion section’s Design team. The fellow will continue to elevate the visual presentation and expand the narrative range of the Opinion report — creating compelling points of view for columns, op-eds and editorial board pieces, with a precise focus on making Opinion visually distinct from the news report. In addition, the fellow will work alongside senior leaders to produce an immersive experience, innovating the way we tell stories through video, animation, photography and illustration. The fellow should be interested in news (social, cultural and political) and have the ability to collaborate with a range of editors, writers and photographers. Skills should include a strong design foundation, sharp editorial instinct and capable exposure to programming. This program is for early-career journalists. Applicants with more than five years of full-time, professional journalism experience beyond school will not be considered. The most competitive candidates will be college graduates or postgraduates or career pivoters of any age who have had multiple visual internships or equivalent experience in related fields.
