The New York Times

Magazine Story Editor
The New York Times Magazine is looking for a strong, dynamic, and versatile story editor to join our team. This is a job for an editor who knows how to generate ideas, make smart assignments in a fast-paced environment, guide writers through their work on deadline, and edit columns and stories on a range of subjects at a high level.

This person will work closely with the editor in chief and deputy editors, as well as the magazine’s design, photo, research, copy and digital teams to develop columns and stories week by week. Ideal candidates possess a strong sense of narrative structure and a keen ear for stylish prose. They should also have an ability to juggle many projects at various levels of completion, adhering to deadlines and staying on top of their writers to do the same. They should enjoy editing columns and sections from the magazine’s front of book as well as longer features. We value collaboration, creativity and the ability to stay calm in a high-stakes environment.

The job is full time and based in New York City once remote work ends.
