The Graphics Desk at The New York Times is looking for an experienced news editor to guide ambitious visual approaches to breaking news and fast-turn graphics projects. This editor will be responsible for organizing the daily news approach for the Graphics Desk, and setting the team’s agenda for the top stories of the day with other editors on the team. This editor will quickly conceive of new lines of reporting, edit news stories on deadline, and push lines of enterprise and investigative reporting. This editor will primarily oversee small teams of Graphics reporters and visualization experts to create stories on the most urgent news stories. Other responsibilities will involve leading teams that span multiple desks in the newsroom, which will include providing guidance and vision for a group with diverse journalistic skills and experience. The Graphics Desk is a close-knit unit of visual thinkers with a shared vision to creatively cover the news and develop design solutions in a collaborative setting.
