The New York Times

Staff Editor and Fact Check, Opinion Audio
New York Times Opinion is ramping up its audio ambitions. The medium is ideal for showcasing unique, diverse and provocative voices and conversations, which have long been at the core of our mission.

The Staff Editor will fact check Ezra Klein’s new, twice-weekly podcast and weekly column, as well as other shows as needed.
This person will work closely with hosts, producers and editors to check facts and assertions, with extra attention to the tone and context in which they’re delivered. The work will also include helping to research guests and providing background information using public records and electronic records. While the bulk of the work will be in the audio department, there will be text pieces that require extra eyes as well.

You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced news environment, and enjoy being involved in multiple projects at once. You should have exceptional news judgment. This is also a very collaborative environment, essentially a start-up within the Opinion desk and an opportunity to be on the ground floor. Audio experience preferred, but not required, as well as 3-5 years of fact-checking experience.
