The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Western Pennsylvania’s largest newspaper and winner of the 2022 Keystone Media Awards’ top honor among the state’s largest newsrooms, is looking for a talented general assignment reporter to join our News & Investigations team. This general assignment reporter will be counted on to respond to breaking news, exercise sound news judgment on deadline, and produce a steady flow of enterprise on a wide variety of topics that readers can’t get anywhere else. Applicants should have the ability to identify stories, wrangle public records from government officials, and execute both short-term enterprise and long-range projects.
The PG, which won the Pulitzer Prize for breaking news in 2019 and was a Pulitzer finalist in 2020 for local reporting, is dedicated to investigative journalism that holds the powerful accountable.
The reporter would be a member of a Post-Gazette's news team that has taken on major regional stories that range from deadly and abusive group homes and money laundering in the U.S. steel industry to a failed public housing program that left residents in decrepit and dangerous conditions.
