We’re seeking a curious, hard-charging reporter who’s a self-starter with high ambitions and strong storytelling skills. We are in a thriving corner of Northern California that is much more than vineyards, grapes, wine and wineries. We are expanding our coverage of other drivers of Sonoma County’s economy, with a special emphasis on tribal casinos, small businesses, larger employers (including tech and manufacturing) and thoughtful examinations of what consumers face in a post-COVID economy that is evolving at a time of national uncertainty. We are searching for someone with great passion for these topics with a proven track record for developing a strong network of sources – local economists, entrepreneurs, CEOs, inventors, employers and those working, shopping and living in Northern California, as well as national economic trend watchers. Comfort with public documents (including OSHA and LLC incorporation and tax documents) is an obvious requirement, but, so, too, is the ability to navigate the local marketplace, finding the stories of those contributing to, inventing, expanding, surviving, gambling, building and dreaming about their slice of our local economy.
