The Real Deal is looking for a video journalist to join a growing multimedia news team.

As a publication, The Real Deal is to real estate what Variety is to entertainment or what Politico is to Beltway politics – a plugged-in news outlet that is read by the entire industry.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic growing multimedia journalist, proficient as a reporter, videographer, and editor, is comfortable being on camera, and is interested in gaining business journalism experience.
Job Responsibilities:
Craft interactive video content for The Real Deal’s website, YouTube, and social media platforms using breaking news from TRD’s breaking news site and magazine
Plan, script, shoot, edit and produce interviews and social-friendly video series with TRD’s reporters
Research, pitch and produce enterprise video stories, identifying interesting topics, locations and interview subjects (development tours, building bios, key player spotlights)
Ultimately, bring at least four pieces of content to completion each week, video and thumbnails
Job Requirements:
Top candidates for this position will have a background in video and new media journalism, demonstrate excellent shooting and editing skills, have experience creating graphics and animations, be able to manage studio and field shoots, and take videos from conception to publication
Strong journalistic skills are key here. Good candidates will have a strong eye for buzzy stories and understand how to translate written stories into the visual medium. They should be able to write their own scripts, research independently, fact-check stories and details, interview experts, and ultimately produce exciting, engaging videos
Must have a good understanding of business journalism. Knowledge of the real estate beat is helpful but not required
Must be able to write clear, concise scripts
Must be skilled with multiple camera set-ups, including but not limited to Sony TKTK (whatever the office camera is will check)
Must be a competent editor in Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop
Experience with Adobe After Effects is extremely helpful to create professional quality graphics
