The Santa Fe New Mexican is seeking a versatile creator to help “the West’s oldest newspaper” bolster its digital presence and engage its online audience through the role of digital producer.
The ideal candidate will possess a wide array of skills and be comfortable performing within the fast-paced environment of daily news coverage. From generating social media posts that drive traffic, to producing videos and podcasts, to helping update the newspaper’s website, the position demands the ability to multitask while maintaining a sharp attention to detail.
The digital producer role is rooted in collaboration. Interacting with editors, reporters and photographers, the successful candidate will work on ways to enhance storytelling beyond what’s on the page through elements like video packages or data visualizations.
The digital producer will be encouraged to lean into their strengths and interests while also showing a willingness to learn, grow and adapt with the changing media landscape and the needs within the newsroom.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Mass Communications, or equivalent in experience and education
One to three years of professional experience preferred
Desired skills/abilities
Experience with a content management system (we use BLOX CMS)
Promoting content across social media platforms
Photography/videography and photo/video editing
Audio production
Audience engagement
Knowledge of Associated Press style
Experience creating data visualizations
Working knowledge of HTML/CSS
Strong writing skills
Spanish language skills a plus
