Business Reporter

The State Register-Journal in Springfield, IL is part of the USA TODAY NETWORK and looking for a self-motivated reporter to become the recognized voice on the impact of our growing business community in Springfield.

Focus areas include new and large business development, with a keen focus on restaurant openings and closures as well as food and dining.

The ideal candidate is an investigative reporter at heart who has the skills to dig into an issue but also the storytelling ability to show readers how major changes across the Springfield business landscape is having an impact on life here.
They should be adept at source development, have experience using public records, databases and other digital-focused tools; bring a rock-solid knowledge of AP style; and demonstrate a proven ability to meet daily and long-range deadlines.
Previous business reporting and at least three years of experience at a daily newspaper or equivalent media are preferred.
