Role purpose and overview

As Newsletter Editor you will help build and strengthen The Telegraph’s relationship with its readers by crafting, editing, curating, producing and optimising bespoke emails.

This role focuses on The Telegraph’s evergreen content and resource journalism, from Money to Health to Travel.

You’ll therefore need to be adept at building relationships across the newsroom, have great digital and analytical skills and be confident curating and editing high-quality content. You’ll be a self starter with excellent communication, prioritisation and organisation skills.

You don't need previous experience working on newsletters to join our team, but you do need excellent attention to detail, strong editing skills and an interest in using data to make editorial decisions.

Key responsibilities

Producing, editing and occasionally writing bespoke email newsletters across a wide variety of topics
Acting as the newsletter lead for key editorial verticals, selecting and distributing content based on data and editorial priorities
Collaborating with the Head of Newsletters and key editorial stakeholders on newsletter launches and rebrands to support our evergreen content strategy
Building relationships with editorial desks to plan content distribution and reporting back on performance
Using data to inform curation decisions and optimise performance
Leveraging and managing relationships with design, product and tech to ensure The Telegraph’s newsletters maintain our highest standards
Subbing newsletter copy prior to publication (please note: this may involve occasional earlier or later shifts based around publication times)

Excellent editing skills and proven ability to produce the highest quality work on a consistent basis, to tight deadlines (Essential)
Exceptional attention to detail (Essential)
Excellent understanding of The Telegraph’s brands and journalistic values, both in digital and in print (Essential)
A proven self-starter with excellent relationship building skills (Essential)
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and excellent organisation skills (Essential)
Demonstrable ability to use analytics tools and data reports to influence editorial decisions (Desirable)
Experience curating high-quality editorial content for engaged audiences (Desirable)
Direct experience working on newsletters, an understanding of the industry and what makes newsletters unique from other publishing media (Desirable)
Proven ability to work collaboratively with other departments (Desirable)
Experience using a variety of digital publishing / CMS systems (Desirable)
Broad interests and expertise in at least two of the following editorial areas: Lifestyle, Personal Finance, Health, Culture, Food, Travel (Desirable)
