Position:
Reporting from Brownsville to Laredo, this journalist travels the region, telling stories of everyday Texans and how state and local policy decisions affect their lives. Issues include employment and the economy, immigration, public schools, transportation access, environmental concerns and health care. Depending on the news of the day, the reporter produces some quick turnaround stories, but mainly enterprise work that elevates the voices of South Texans.
Salary and Benefits:
$55,000 minimum based on experience
This is a full-time, exempt position and includes the following benefits: medical, vision and dental insurance, a $50-a-month cell phone stipend, 20 days of paid time off each year, 12 paid holidays per year, up to 16 weeks of paid family leave plus four weeks of additional job protection, annual 401(k) match up to $2,000, a $2,000-a-year stipend for professional development, including conferences, trainings and workshops , and a Tribune-issued laptop.
