The Times, a privately owned newspaper in Gainesville, Ga., is looking for page designers with attention to detail to work on a small regional copy desk producing news pages in both print and electronic formats for multiple community news operations.
Members of our copy desk are responsible for print and e-edition pages for three different news operations, as well as a twice-monthly niche magazine and an assortment of special publications.
Located just north of Atlanta and a proud printing partner of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Times has the largest newsroom staff in Northeast Georgia, a testament to our continued dedication to providing local news.
The ideal candidate will:
Be proficient in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
Be able to juggle a dynamic list of duties while meeting tight deadlines
Have a strong knowledge of AP style
Have a knack for writing engaging print and online headlines
Enjoy telling a cohesive story with art, headline, text and more
Be comfortable working in a data-informed newsroom environment
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field. Newspaper experience is preferred, but recent college graduates will be considered.
The position will be based at our downtown Gainesville office and will be a roughly 2-11 p.m. weekday shift. Working remotely on occasion is an option, but on-site work is required.
