The Times-Picayune is looking for a dynamic journalist and masterful storyteller to lead a team of reporters covering the New Orleans area for the largest news organization in Louisiana. New Orleans, known for its fascinating culture and laissez-faire attitude, has always been a news market that punches well above its weight. That’s why we are in search of an experienced journalist who can manage breaking news while also helping reporters develop in-depth enterprise that tackles the knotty, highly charged issues of the day.
The Deputy Metro Editor is part of an editing team that leads about a dozen reporters covering local politics, business, education, crime and courts in the city and surrounding parishes.
We are passionate about producing thoughtful journalism both in print and on our website, NOLA.com, and have been aggressive about growing the organization to reach more subscribers. In addition to the New Orleans products, our company publishes The Advocate in Baton Rouge and The Acadiana Advocate in Lafayette, as well as their surging digital properties.
The Times-Picayune is locally owned and an equal opportunity employer, committed to recruiting, developing, and promoting a diverse workforce while providing unique opportunities and career paths for our employees. We encourage applicants of all backgrounds and experience levels to apply.
This position offers a competitive salary and benefits package that includes medical, vision and dental insurance, short term disability, long term disability and a 401K plan.
