Dean of Students staff serve students through programs, events, resources, and services built around well-being, support, campus life and belonging. Our services also include Student Conduct and Academic Integrity, Veteran and Military Affiliated Services, and Student Governance Organizations.
Dean of Students is one of nine departments in the Division of Student Affairs. The Division of Student Affairs supports all members of the university community through our mission of developing programs and services that allow everyone to thrive and contribute to the dedicated excellence at the core of our institutional mission. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
Purpose:
This position will be responsible for the creation, delivery, and review of marketing-related content to support Dean of Students programs, spaces, and resources. This will include writing marketing copy – ad copy, web content, headlines, etc. The ideal content writer creates original and compelling copy – high-touch storytelling that goes beyond the facts. This position works closely with the director of strategic and executive communications, along with the Dean of Students communications team to meet production deadlines and may consult with programming staff on project needs and adjustments. Must be able to work collaboratively or independently. Performs related duties as assigned.
This position offers flexible hybrid work options; however, it is not fully remote.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for editing and providing writing support for print, digital, and social media content for Dean of Students - including headlines and short copy.
Fact-check, edit and proofread all communications team content.
Work collaboratively across department teams and with communications colleagues.
Assist in stages of the editorial cycle: editorial calendar development, topic identification, brainstorming, research, interviewing, writing, editing, and proofing.
Act as a staff content writer, developing content for both print and web for the Office of the Dean of Students.
Research, develop content, check factual accuracy, ensure quality, and obtain appropriate approvals for social media and web communications.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, marketing, or related communications field. At least one year’s experience as a copy or content writer. Demonstrated writing skills.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
Four years or more professional copy or content writing experience. Expertise in AP style writing. Knowledge of SEO best practices, social media, and other digital marketing strategies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Deadline driven and organized. Receptive to receiving feedback. Experience writing content for institutions of higher education.
Salary:
$46,000 non-negotiable
