The Wall Street Journal

Associate Features Editor
The Associate Features Editor of Off Duty is responsible for the Gear & Gadget section's coverage of lifestyle-related technology and gadgets, as well as outdoor gear, on all our platforms, including mobile, desktop and the weekly print edition. The coverage area is broad—everything from the latest high-end headphones to electric bikes to space tourism. You will generate story ideas that contextualize the latest technological developments in a smart, helpful, journalistic way for readers. You will plan line-ups and assign stories to staff writers or freelancers, edit all stories to assure they fit Off Duty's service-oriented agenda and the journalistic and ethical standards of The Wall Street Journal, and usher stories through the proofing and fact-checking process. You will work closely with art directors and photo editors. This position calls for an individual with at least 2-3 years experience in both print and digital editorial; the ideal candidate will bring to the job a deep understanding of current tech and trends in outdoor gear, a sophisticated taste level, original packaging and conceptual instincts, a lively sense of humor, top-notch editing and writing skills and digital savvy. Experience crafting social-media strategy, SEO-friendly display, overseeing videos and conceiving interactive editorial are a plus.
