The Chinese Online Edition of The Wall Street Journal (CWSJ) is looking for a platform editor to curate the cn.wsj.com website and manage its social media accounts and newsletters to enhance the digital experience for our audience. The position ideally will be based in Singapore or other locations in Asia. You will report to Foreign Language Chief for CWSJ.
You will line up stories on the home page and create story packages using audience data and news judgment. You will help execute the team's content strategy and take a hands-on approach in crafting language for headlines, summaries, social posts and newsletters. You will also translate English content, including stories, image captions, video descriptions and charts, into Chinese. You may rotate between early and late shifts.
Platform editors demonstrate strong skills in translating, headline-writing and social media editing with our readers' needs in mind. The role requires speed and proficiency with digital publishing tools and a strong command of newsroom workflows.
You Will:
Edit and write headlines, summaries, social media posts and newsletter summaries.
Translate English content, including stories, image captions, video descriptions and charts, into Chinese.
Help manage CWSJ's social media accounts on X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
Use audience data to inform curation and strategy decisions
Help troubleshoot digital publishing issues
Participate in various CWSJ projects to engage and expand the audience.
You Have:
Previous work experience in journalism or financial news editing
Proven experience as an English-to-Chinese translator, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
Comprehensive knowledge of finance, markets and business news with a good understanding of our audiences’ interests
Organizational skills and an ability to prioritize your work
A desire to work as part of a collaborative team
