Social Media Editor (Nights)

New Posted 19 March 2021 | New York, NY | The Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal is expanding its social media/off-platform team and is looking for an experienced journalist who will focus on evening and weekend audiences. You will work evening hours Sunday-Thursday.

We're looking for someone with a passion for social storytelling. Social-media editors ensure that breaking news, features and scoops are delivered effectively across social channels while endeavoring to amplify these stories in novel ways. You will help define the WSJ's social voice and sensibility, while coordinating coverage—from political news and disasters to market-moving reports and exclusives—across these channels. You should be comfortable publishing to an audience of millions that includes both longtime members and those encountering the Journal for the first time.

The position requires a broad knowledge of social-media platforms, with a particular focus on Facebook and Twitter, and a knack for finding ways to optimize content off-platform in the moments between intense news cycles. You will work closely with mobile and homepage editors to write and edit strong, clear and accurate language in social posts. You will also collaborate with senior coverage editors and strategy editors to craft off-platform plans for our journalism and shepherd stories from concept to final execution.
