The national editor is responsible for driving some of The Post’s most high-profile and consequential lines of coverage and must have a keen understanding of the most significant issues shaping American life at this pivotal moment in the country’s history. This position requires someone with tested judgment when it comes to sensitive editorial decision-making, the ability to cultivate strong beat reporting and a vision for mobilizing distinctive coverage. This editor must also have a high metabolism and the ability to execute multiple major storylines at once.
This editor will play a key role in driving innovation in our storytelling and expanding the impact of our journalism. We are seeking a candidate who is creative, dynamic and resourceful, and who has an instinct for how to work with staff across the room to identify new ways to deepen our connection with our audience.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a large staff with empathy. The candidate should be a talented communicator who can lay out a galvanizing mission for the department.
