The Washington Post is seeking an accomplished video reporter steeped in open-source intelligence techniques to join its Visual Forensics team. Successful candidates should have at least three years of demonstrated experience analyzing video, audio, social media and open-source information and pitching ambitious stories based on what can be found within these sources. This role requires a high degree of organization and the ability to pivot to breaking news coverage as needed. Proficiency in tracking and analyzing data and the use of mapping as a reporting tool is essential. Ideas for innovative ways to extract meaning from visuals – either with new tools or existing and unconventional methods – are a plus. A working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects would be useful. The ability to write concisely and compellingly, from a video script to an article, is also a plus. The ideal candidate will have a track record of significant contributions to high-impact stories. Experience in a newsroom environment is a plus. Importantly, the role requires a true team player, who understands that the best work is done through collaboration. This position can be based in our Washington, New York, San Francisco or London newsrooms.
