The Washington Times, the nations’ most respected leader providing hard-hitting journalism and razor-sharp commentary, is looking to add ambitious and energetic people to join our organization in the Editorial Department. The Washington Times is seeking a Social Media Editor to promote our news articles and commentary as well as manage the company’s social media accounts. The Social Media Editor will be responsible for audience cultivation and engagement to increase traffic on all digital platforms. The ideal candidate understands the news cycle, has experience packaging content across multiple platforms, and is able to manage social media in creative ways. Also required is the ability to spot “talkers” before they go viral and present it in creative ways that attract readers and increase engagement. Requires experience in a fast-paced newsroom. The successful candidate must be able to shepherd company-wide projects through completion and social promotion. This position requires the ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities. Excellent oral, written and communication skills and proven ability to meet competing deadlines are a necessity. Must be a team player and be able to work with senior editors and collaborate on digital news coverage.
